Up and running

Campaign Stories #3
Bell finally got the finger out, and magically our Static Internet was up and running late Sunday evening. Spent Sunday night, early Monday morning wiring up all the systems. Monday morning office opening - 8 computers wired up and raring to go. Eight VOIP powered systems complete with predictive dialing = 24 lines of dialing power. Our Voter ID efforts launch into high gear today with everything finally in place. This kind of phone power allows us to do our own rough tracking every evening with a fairly large sample.
Sign teams continued their frantic pace this weekend. Before Tuesday evenings Official Campaign Office Opening, we should be well over the thousand sign mark. One important lesson learned this time out is not to use the database and poll maps for the initial sign blitz. For that first night it's probably better to go with simple Excel lists by street.
Sign requests continue to pour in, and I think people are going to start fighting over the big ones. Conservative Pride is cool again in Windsor and everyone is anxious to let all their neighbours know! At the rate we're going now, all this years new signs will be gone by the end of the week and we'll be starting next week with last years signs.
It certainly is heartening to see the volunteers streaming into the office. The core campaign team has been hard at work for over a year now, and all these new hands are a welcome addition to the campaign. I even managed to sneak in 14 hours of sleep Sunday! (that makes up for the 2 1/2 hours a night I've been surviving on for the last several days).
Canvassing strategy has been tweaked and Rick is off and running. (not that he's ever stopped)
Both Comartin and Easton have a lot of doors to knock on to catch up with Rick. Actually, there's no way they can. Having already knocked on over 15,000 doors this year Rick has set the standard for the others.
Rumour has it the Bruck Easton has finally found some signs to put up. I had to laugh when I heard that they're red lettering on a white background. I guess my advice was a help to Bruck after all. I'll post some pics if we can manage to spot one of his signs somewhere.
All in all things are rolling along pretty good. A few minor speed bumps here and there, but nothing earth shattering. All the work, preparation and planning from the last year are beginning to pay off. Although this is a longer than normal campaign, even then it's not long enough to get everything done. I can't even being to imagine where we would be if we just started recently. On the other hand, I think I can. Here and Here.
One person - One vote at a time!
