A Challenge for Minister of Public Works Scott Brison
(en francais)

Government of Canada Announces First Success in Agreement to Recover Sponsorship Funds

"The Government of Canada is committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure the safeguard of Canadians 'hard-earned money', said Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services. "This includes ensuring funds improperly obtained from the Government of Canada are recovered."
Given that Canadians may be a little skeptical on the governments actions to recover ADSCAM money from the Liberal party, I'd like to see an honest commitment from Minister Brison, for a change.

Will Minister Brison commit to handing over the Liberal portion of the file to an independent agency "to ensure the safeguard of Canadians 'hard-earned money'. Considering the Liberals obvious conflict of interest in this situation, the honourable thing to do would be to step aside.

Considering her familiarity with the file, I think Auditor-General Sheila Fraser would be an eminently qualified person to shepherd this task.

What say you Minister Brison? Are you REALLY "committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure the safeguard of Canadians hard-earned money"?

(I had a feeling that the Government of Canada RSS feeds were going to be interesting!)

Edit: in the spirit of 'practice what you preach' - I have sent the above blog as a Letter to the Editor to the following papers - Windsor Star, Toronto Star, National Post, Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Ottawa Sun, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Ottawa Citizen, Vancouver Province, Victoria Times Colonist. I'll add more later when I have time!)
