Who is the 'Ned Flanders' of Canadian politics?
(en francais)
Tell it like it is article by Calgary Sun columnist Jose Rodriguez. As I read the article, I couldn't help but think what would happen to Jose if he came to Toronto and wrote the same article.
Ontario could use a little more straight talk, but so many are afraid to do it. Common sense solutions seem to be shouted down by every sort of special interest group under the sun.
Whatever happened to the politics of concensus instead of contention?
(for those that can't recognize it, the question is meant to make people think beyond the "it's the conservatives fault" talking points or the reverse "the left is to blame for all that ails Canada )

Will the real Ned Flanders please stand up?
The battle for Canada's mushy middle has become a two-man fight to see who can most resemble the Simpson's favourite moustachioed super-wimp.
In the red corner, there's Paul Martin, a seasoned scrapper who fights under the name Dithers and has a one-and-owe record, none coming by way of knockout.
In the even redder corner, there's Jack Layton, who packs a toxic tonic of social programs and would rather die on a hospital waiting list than ever pay a red dime for health care.
