Daycare in Canada has always been a hot-button topic, but has been particularly front-and-centre since the Liberal government announced its plan to give $5-billion over five years for subsidized daycare spaces.
But after the Liberals' defeat, the new Conservative government said it would end that program, promising instead a $1,200 family allowance payment for each child under six. Plan favours stay-at-home parents .
Like it or not, this is the approach for now for parents with small children.
